Broadband Technical Support

Post by oldhippy on Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:15 am
I'm thinking of switching from the dreadful Tiscali. Since switching to there Siemens Router in order for me to go wireless I've had nothing but trouble. There support seems to be based in India or something. It's a job to understand them as it is for them to understand me. They keep asking the same questions over and over again. I'm getting know ware.

What is the support like here? Is the support based in the UK are they English so I can understand them as they can understand me?

Is the support 24 hours a day?

If I need to call is it a premium rate number?

The customer support are excellent.

They are the only company I have ever dealt with who have a 1st line team who actually know what they are doing.
The second line team REALLY no their stuff and don't cry if you use a technical term they should know.

Their tertiary team are good also, I am currently providing them and the BBC with plenty of info in order to solve the issues with iPlayer. They are a very helpful, committed team.

My only gripe is that they use Thomson hardware. Thomson are renowned for providing cheap routers and awful firmware. I genuinely feel sorry for the tertiary team who have to deal with Thomson!! But...the o2 Wireless box isn't bad and any other modem router can be used instead.

O2 support (all levels) are far far far better than any other ISP I've ever used.

Calls are free. They answer fairly quickly. They know they're stuff. They want to help. They're Uk based. They call back and follow-up when they say they will. Ordering was quick/efficient. I even think the HW is good!

So ok my problem isn't solved, but interference is tough, and the regime with Bt owning the lines is tough. So you can't expect miracles. But I know some of those regulations and environment...

Totally professional and so much better than any major provider I know about.

Oh and of course they're cheap!

*WELL DONE O2*
