This is a petition at the utter rediculous price to upgrade to the new handset for existing customers. 12 months ago we signed up to an 18 month contract. At that point the contract period started again.

To upgrade to the iPhone 3G S you have to pay the remaining 6 months + of the contract, plus the handset cost.

This is very disapointing as you for this price you can buy them legitimately from abroad unlocked (due to laws in foreign counties) so whats the motivation to stay with o2 when i can have any provider??

So, when my contract expires in december, ill be forced to sign another, which will leave me in the same predicament when the new phone is undoubtably announced next summer again....

This is extremely dissapointing....express your comments and please respond to the poll..

Not only do you have to pay it off but to get the new phone at any kind of reasonable price you have to agree to a 2 year contract which will land you in the same predicament when Apple release another new model next year (which lets face it they will)

So pay my 14 month contract off and pay for the full IPhone 3GS price?

Screw that. Ill keep my Iphone 3G.

02 screw themselves with thier 18 month contract plan. Should be 12 month or 24 if they know a new Iphone comes out every year.

If you have an 18 month contract please explain why you should be upgraded after 12? anybody got a reason why they DESERVE an upgrade? If you had a Nokia N96 do you expect the N87 when it comes out?

We all signed a 18 month contract. O2 have every right to hold you to that. Think of it like any other handset now that its subsidised by O2.

It's actually disgusting that o2 can do this, I would quite happily upgrade with the 32GB one for 2 years at a cost of £50, but to charge the remainder of the contract is piss poor!

When I upgraded early last July I paid £50 and didn't have to pay the remainder of my contract off then.

I've never once been unhappy with my o2 contract until today. Evil or Very Mad

think to yourself why they let you upgrade early! becasue you paid £300 for the phone! this time many people paid nothing for the phone or just £50! for o2 to give you another free phone which costs them 200-300 would cost a fortune!

This is so dumb, i was happy to upgrade each time and sign up for another year, not now, if this happens, when me contacts up, im unlocking and never coming back.

Graig I have paid £45 per month since last July Plus I paid £45 per month From Nov 07 plus the price of the first iPhone when that came out.

The fact of the matter is I would continue with o2 for two years on the 19th but this has changed my mind now.

Glad someone else agrees, when The 3G came out last year O2 encouraged long term customers. This doesn't encourage them one bit!

You have paid £45 a month for all the mins, texts, internet etc, and the cost of the phone was subsidised.
Everyone agreed to a contract. Deal with it.
