My SMS issue is still with apple awaiting 2.2.1?? I do not have the luxury of a Apple store here in the sticks of Norfolk so am stuck with it!! Also O2 seem to be unable to resolve my Visual Voicemail problem. Anyone had this issue as well as the SMS issue?? Nethier O2 or Apple seem to care

looks like I'll have to go to Southampton, despite having an Istore in Basingstoke
Are there any official Iphone forums we could post on, and get a written response from Apple themselves, as O2 don't seem to care. |

There is another thread on this subject on Apple's own support pages:

Thanks for this the link in your post also confirms that the issue with visual voicemail is linked to the sms issue. I am drafting a letter to O2 with the help of consumer direct using the Supply of Goods and Services act 1982 as a basis for my complaint. People from consumer direct very helpful (return your emails within 24hrs etc.) unlike o2 who cant be bothered.

just rung Apple support and they immediately responded that they were aware of the issue and that their engineers were "feverishly" working on a fix ! She said loads of other people were being effected by this issue, and that she recorded it against my serial number. She said that I should try setting it up as new phone as this had helped some people
She seemed to be saying a fix would be available within a few days don't hold your breath ! |

Well 2.2.1 is out now from iTunes. Anyone with this SMS issue going to try it to see if it fixes the issue?

I've updated my phone and it's fixed! (Despite the SMS issue not being shown in the list of bug fixes.)

In case anyone was curious. And you were, right, no mention of the SMS problem. Glad you're sorted, hope I will be too in a moment!

yes, that fixed it for me as well.
I'd just like to take this opportunity for thanking O2 for being so helpful, communicative and understanding on this forum or when I've rung them NOT Now all I need to do is think of something/someone to text How about "I can text now on my £400 phone !!" |

Hi - I have just upgraded to 2.2.1
Beforehand earlier this month (approx a week ago) my iphone decided to stop sending SMS messages, even tho I was still able to recieve them. IT used to get to about 30% away the progress bar and then send Error Sending Failure. Apparently 2.2.1 was meant to address this, but now even though it gets further along the progress bar when sending - say about 80% I still get the same error message!!! What can I do - it's really annoying that I can not send text messages anymore!!! HELP!!! |
|
|
If the 2.2.1 update hasn't fixed it, then phone Apple on 0800 048 0408 (have your iPhone's serial number handy) or contact your nearest Apple store. They should replace the phone immediately.

I don't want a refurbed iphone tho - if I was to replace it I would want a new one out of the box, not one that has been sent back to apple because of a fault or break and had it reapired....
